LCD Film is transparency under the influence of applied voltage.
We refer to it as intelligent film smart
glass or film with variable transparency.
Changing the transparency of the film is possible thanks to the special layered structure of
the PDLC film.
After switching on the voltage, the current flow causes polarization of the liquid crystal. Its structure becomes ordered. Light begins to pass freely through the transparent structure.
Turning off the voltage causes the crystal structure to return to a random configuration. The foil becomes matte, limiting visibility from both sides. Thanks to the high light transmittance in the matte state, the room remains well lit.
How do LCD films work?
LCD films are liquid crystals enclosed in a polymer matrix. They react to an applied electric charge. In a static state (without voltage applied), the molecules of the liquid crystals remain in a random configuration that refracts the incident light.
This makes the smart glass film opaque (matte state). After applying voltage, the current flowing through the liquid crystal causes the molecules to align in the direction of the electric field. The film becomes transparent and allows light to pass through without any obstacles. Disconnecting the voltage causes the polymer to return to its random structure, the passing light is again strongly dispersed and the film once again becomes a matt surface.

Transformer in housing
A housing transformer is used where we want to obtain additional, mechanical control over the power supply of the system with the LCD film, as well as for aesthetic reasons.
Maintaining the correct (47 V) voltage is additionally protected by the POSISTOR used in the transformer. In the event of overheating of the electrical system, this element rapidly increases its RESISTANCE, protecting the film from damage due to OVERVOLTAGE.
